Developing added power and torque with the 981 has proven to be a formidable challenge with all Porsche tuners. IPD has invested countless hours in R & D with the new 981 Plenum in an effort to extract as much performance as possible from the new intake system.
The first independent dyno test session with the 981 Competition Plenum yielded 13 horsepower and 12 foot pounds of torque at the wheels. The bulk of the power gains from the IPD Plenum begin around 3700 rpm, continue all the way through to redline and become fully realized in the 6500 rpm range. IPD performance gains stay above both factory power curves throughout the entire rev range.
Very noticeable power gains were also "felt" during initial throttle response with our customer test car. This "feeling" was validated on the dyno with the above test car. The greatest gains were actually seen at throttle "tip in" at 2000 rpm but we typically don't count gains below 2500 although they are still very noticeable and very real performance improvements.
[notice class="alert"]NOTE: This car was completely bone stock. The car remained strapped to the dyno throughout all test sessions and during the Plenum installation. All runs were performed within 90 minutes of each other while weather conditions were slightly warmer during IPD Plenum pulls. 82 mm Plenum and 82mm TB delivered gains of 13 WHP and 11 ft/lbs at 6600 RPM. There was also some impressive gains of 20+ WHP and 50+ Torque with Initial throttle response at 2000 rpm. Test conducted with minimal adaptation time/miles. Test compares best stock run vs. IPD Plenum and TB.[/notice]
